Aaron Lennon Praises Sean Dyche after Being Hurt by Last Everton Manager

Aaron Lennon has unveiled he never saw eye-to-eye with Ronald Koeman when he was at Everton. He said that he had often been left hurt by being overlooked on multiple occasions.

Lennon joined the Blues on loan in the second half of 2014-2014 and during that time Roberto Martinez had been in charge of the side and joined the latter permanently at the beginning of the following campaign.

The 35-yeard-old had made 31 appearances in all competitions during the first full season but saw their opportunities being reduced gradually after the appointment of Ronald Koeman in June 2016. He started just 6 Premier League matches in the first year and the Leeds-born winger just worked his way back into contention the following season after the Dutchman was sacked in 2017 October.

While sharing his views on contrasting experiences of working under Koeman and Martinez, Lennon mentioned that they are both different characters. He said that he went there on loan for, incredible 5 months, he knew that was where he wanted to be, really welcoming, great feel to the club- it reminded him of Leeds which is also like a family and the fans of Everton had always been with him.

He stated that some people thought he was only a winger and did not realize that he defends. Lennon works 100% every for the team. Before he had even seen him, Koeman had judged him. Lennon had been training hard and had been on the bench. At times, he was not even on the team, without an explanation and it hurt.

Off the pitch, there had been struggles during the time of Lennon on Meyerside, with the player being detained in 2017 under the Mental Health Act after concerns for welfare had been raised.
