Burnley winger Aaron Lennon made the first start of his second spell for the Clarets as they were forced to a goalless draw by visiting team, Norwich City in a Premier League duel played just before the October international break.

Aaron Lennon made 55 appearances for Burnley during his first spell which lasted for over two years. He left Burnley at the end of his contract at the club last summer having joined the club from Everton for an undisclosed fee in January 2018. He had penned a two-and-a-half year deal with the Clarets when he joined during the 2018 winter transfer window.

Ex-England national team winger Lennon moved to Kayserispor in the Turkish league on a free transfer after his Burnley exit and he was at the club for one season before returning to the Premier League.

Aaron Lennon re-signed for Burnley as a free agent in August and he made the first appearance of his second spell during the Carabao Cup second round win over fellow Premier League team Newcastle United via penalties. The winger was on from the start before he made way for left-sided defender Charlie Tayloraround the hour mark.

Lennon returned to the Premier League squad for the first time in his second Burnley spell ahead of the home game with Leeds United and he would later come on for Icelandic international Johann Berg Gudmundsson on 63 minutes after manager Sean Dyche named him on the bench. Lennon was also on the bench during the 3-1 comeback defeat at the hands of hosts Everton. He came on for the aforementioned Gudmundsson for the final 15 minutes of the game against his former club. The winger was then left on the bench for the duration of the 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal in the league.

Aaron Lennon made his second start of his second Burnley spell in the 4-1 home win over League Two side Rochdale in the Carabao Cup third round. The winger played the whole game.

In the next match at the home of Leicester City, Lennon was on the bench for the whole game. He made the first league start of his second Burnley spell in the last league game at home to bottom team Norwich City. He was replaced by Gudmundsson on the hour mark during the Norwich City duel. The point gained via a goalless draw with Norwich City took Burnley above Newcastle United on the league table on goal difference. The two teams have three points from the first seven matches this season.
